13-Day Chengdu Nyingchi Peach Blossom EBC Xining Train Tour Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Chengdu and Check in near Tianfu International Airport

Distance: Short airport hotel transfer | Meals: / | Hotel: Hotel near Chengdu Tianfu International Airport

Your journey begins in Chengdu, where you will stay close to the airport before flying into eastern Tibet the next morning.

Morning / Afternoon: Arrive in Chengdu

Arrive at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport according to your own flight schedule. After collecting your luggage, make your way to the nearby hotel and check in.

There is no sightseeing or group activity today. Use the time to rest after your journey and prepare the documents needed for the flight to Nyingchi.

Before going to bed, check that your passport, Tibet Travel Permit and flight information are together in your hand luggage. Your travel consultant will confirm the next morning’s meeting and departure details.

Overnight near Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.

TibetTrip Advice:
Keep your passport and Tibet Travel Permit in your hand luggage.

Day 2: Fly from Chengdu to Nyingchi and Visit Mainling Peach Blossom Village

Distance: 2-hour flight, followed by a local drive | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Nyingchi

Fly directly from Chengdu into the forested valleys of eastern Tibet. Your first visit is a traditional village surrounded by wild peach blossoms and snowy mountains.

Morning: Fly from Chengdu to Nyingchi

Transfer to Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and board your flight to Nyingchi Mainling Airport.

As the plane approaches Tibet, the landscape changes quickly. Deep river valleys cut through the mountains, forests cover the lower slopes and snow-covered ridges rise beyond them.

Your local Tibetan guide will meet you after arrival and accompany you throughout the Tibet section of the journey.

Afternoon: Mainling Peach Blossom Village

Drive to a peach blossom village in Mainling County, one of the main spring viewing areas near Nyingchi.

The peach trees here are not planted in neat commercial rows. Many are old trees growing naturally beside Tibetan homes, barley fields and quiet village paths. Their broad branches fill with pale pink flowers each spring.

Walk through the village at an easy pace. When the sky is clear, the blossoms appear against a backdrop of snowy peaks. Local families continue their daily work around the fields, giving the visit a natural village atmosphere rather than the feeling of a landscaped attraction.

After the visit, continue to Nyingchi and check in at your hotel. Nyingchi is lower than Lhasa, making it a gentler place to begin adjusting to the altitude.

Overnight in Nyingchi.

TibetTrip Advice:
Take it easy after arrival and keep a warm jacket close.

Day 3: Nyingchi to Bomi via Tongmai, Guxiang Lake and Bomi Peach Blossom Valley

Distance: 230 km, 5–6 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Bomi

Follow the G318 Sichuan–Tibet Highway deeper into eastern Tibet. Today combines mountain roads, river valleys, a quiet lake and one of the largest peach blossom areas around Bomi.

Morning: Drive through Tongmai to Guxiang Lake

Leave Nyingchi after breakfast and travel east beside the Parlung Tsangpo River.

The road passes through Tongmai, once known as one of the most difficult sections of the old Sichuan–Tibet Highway. Modern bridges and tunnels have made the journey far more comfortable, but the steep mountain walls and deep river valley still make this an impressive section of the route.

Stop at Guxiang Lake, a peaceful lake surrounded by wetlands, forested hills and small villages. When the water is calm, the mountains and passing clouds create clear reflections on its surface.

Walk near the lake and enjoy the quieter scenery before continuing toward Bomi.

Afternoon: Bomi Peach Blossom Valley

Arrive at Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, where wild peach trees spread across a broad area of farmland, riverbanks and Tibetan settlements.

The blossoms form part of the natural village landscape. Old trees grow beside stone walls, wooden houses and working fields, while high mountain ridges rise behind the valley.

Walk through one of the main blossom villages and take time to photograph the contrast between the soft pink flowers and the rugged mountains around Bomi.

After the visit, continue to your hotel and check in.

Overnight in Bomi.

TibetTrip Advice:
Wear comfortable shoes and respect private farmland while taking photos.

Day 4: Bomi to Midui/Laigu Glacier and Ranwu Lake

Distance: 260–340 km, 7–9 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Bomi

Today brings some of the wildest scenery in eastern Tibet. Travel from Bomi toward Ranwu for a glacier visit, high mountain valleys and a long alpine lake.

Morning: Midui Glacier or Laigu Glacier

Leave Bomi early and follow the valley east toward Ranwu.

Depending on the road, weather and local access conditions, the group will visit either Midui Glacier or Laigu Glacier.

Midui Glacier lies beyond a forested valley near a Tibetan village. From the main viewing area, you can see the glacier descending between dark mountain slopes, while woodland, farmland and village homes remain visible below. This unusual mix of ice and green scenery makes Midui different from the glaciers of central Tibet.

Laigu Glacier offers a broader and more rugged landscape. Several glaciers surround Laigu Village, feeding small glacial lakes beneath steep mountain walls. Access can be more difficult, so this option is used only when the road and walking conditions are suitable.

Only one glacier will be visited. Your guide will choose the safer and more practical option on the day.

Afternoon: Ranwu Lake

Continue to Ranwu Lake, a long alpine lake surrounded by forests, Tibetan villages and snow-covered peaks.

The lake changes constantly with the weather. Under a clear sky, the water may appear deep blue or turquoise. When clouds gather around the mountains, the surface turns pale silver.

Stop at selected viewpoints and walk near the lakeshore. When the wind is light, the water reflects the surrounding mountain ridges.

After the visit, drive back to Bomi and check in at your hotel.

Overnight in Bomi.

TibetTrip Advice:
The glacier visit depends on road conditions; wear shoes with a good grip.

Day 5: Bomi to Lulang via Galang Lake, Lulang Forest and Lulang International Tourism Town

Distance: 170 km, 4–5 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Lulang

Leave the peach blossom valleys of Bomi and travel west to Lulang, where dense forests, open meadows and snowy mountains create a softer side of the Tibetan landscape.

Morning: Galang Lake

Begin with a visit to Galang Lake, a small lake set among forested hills and Tibetan villages near Bomi.

The lake feels quieter and more enclosed than Ranwu Lake. Fields and traditional houses sit close to the water, while dark green forest covers the surrounding slopes.

Walk near the lake and take in the village scenery. On a calm morning, the hills, trees and clouds create clear reflections across the water.

Afternoon: Lulang Forest

Return to the G318 Highway and travel west toward Lulang Forest.

As you approach Lulang, the valley becomes wider. Dense spruce forest covers the mountain slopes, while streams, meadows and scattered Tibetan homes fill the lower ground.

Stop at the main forest viewing area for a broad look across the valley. On clear days, snow-covered mountains rise beyond the forest. Mist is also common here and often moves quickly between the hills, revealing and hiding different parts of the landscape.

Continue to Lulang International Tourism Town and check in at your hotel. Staying in Lulang keeps the day comfortable and avoids returning to Nyingchi.

Overnight in Lulang.

TibetTrip Advice:
Lulang is often cool and misty, so keep rain protection nearby.

Day 6: Lulang to Lhasa via Basum Tso and Laru Village Peach Blossom Forest

Distance: 450 km, 7–8 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Lhasa

Travel from the green valleys of eastern Tibet toward Lhasa. Along the way, stop at a forest-framed alpine lake and one final peach blossom village.

Morning: Basum Tso

Leave Lulang and travel west through the mountains of Nyingchi.

Reach Basum Tso, an alpine lake surrounded by forested slopes and high peaks. Its clear green water gives it a very different character from the open plateau lakes around Lhasa and Shigatse.

Walk near the shore and enjoy views across the lake. Trees grow close to the water, while small villages and monasteries are scattered through the surrounding valleys.

Depending on the local arrangement, the visit may also include the small island or another nearby viewing area.

Afternoon: Laru Village Peach Blossom Forest

Continue to Laru Village, another spring peach blossom area in Gongbo’gyamda County.

The village sits higher than Bomi, so its peach trees often bloom later. This allows the route to follow the spring blossoms as they gradually move into the higher valleys.

Walk past Tibetan homes and fields beneath the flowering trees. The landscape here feels broader and more open than Bomi, with mountain ridges surrounding the village.

After the visit, join the Lhasa–Nyingchi Expressway and continue toward Lhasa. Forests gradually give way to wider and drier plateau scenery.

Arrive in Lhasa and check in at your hotel. Lhasa sits much higher than Lulang and Bomi, so allow your body time to adjust.

Overnight in Lhasa.

TibetTrip Advice:
Rest well after reaching Lhasa and avoid strenuous activity.

Day 7: Lhasa City Tour with Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street

Distance: 4 km, 0.5 hours | Meals: Breakfast, Tibetan Sweet Tea, Tibetan Welcome Dinner | Hotel: Hotel in Lhasa

Spend the day exploring Lhasa’s most important landmarks. The route moves from the former political centre of Tibet to the spiritual heart of the old city.

Morning: Potala Palace

Begin at the Potala Palace, which rises above Lhasa from Marpo Ri Hill.

Stop first at the front viewing platform for the classic palace panorama. From here, the white and red walls rise in layers above the city.

Enter the palace and follow the stone stairways through the White Palace and Red Palace. Inside, see former living quarters, ceremonial rooms, Buddhist chapels, painted murals and gilded stupa halls.

Your guide will explain how the palace served as both the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and the centre of Tibetan administration.

The climb is steady, but there is no need to rush. Pause when needed and enjoy the views over Lhasa from the upper levels.

Afternoon: Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street

Continue to Jokhang Temple, the most important pilgrimage temple in Lhasa.

Inside the main hall, pilgrims pray before the revered Jowo Shakyamuni Statue. Butter lamps glow inside the small chapels, while worshippers move through the temple making offerings and prostrations.

Outside, follow the traditional kora around Barkhor Street. This circular route surrounds Jokhang Temple and remains the centre of religious life in old Lhasa.

Walk past prayer wheels, old courtyard houses and shops selling Tibetan handicrafts, incense and religious items.

Authentic Tibetan Cultural Experiences:

Tibetan Sweet Tea Time: Take a relaxing break at a traditional local teahouse. Sit down alongside local residents, enjoy the lively atmosphere, and sip authentic Tibetan sweet tea to experience the true rhythm of daily life in Lhasa.

Traditional Tibetan Costume Photoshoot: Dress up in exquisite, traditional Tibetan attire, complete with authentic hairstyles and makeup. A professional photographer will guide you through the historic alleys of Barkhor Street, capturing stunning memories against the iconic backdrop of red walls and prayer wheels.

Evening: Welcome & Celebration

Tibetan Welcome Dinner: In the evening, gather for a grand welcome feast to celebrate your arrival in Tibet. Savor authentic local delicacies and enjoy warm Tibetan hospitality and festive music.

Overnight in Lhasa.

TibetTrip Notice:
Potala Palace requires advance booking, so today’s sightseeing order may change.

Day 8: Lhasa to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake and Karola Glacier

Distance: 360 km, 8 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Shigatse

Leave Lhasa and begin the overland journey across southern Tibet. Today’s route includes a sacred lake, a roadside glacier and the farming plains around Gyantse.

Morning: Gampala Pass and Yamdrok Lake

Drive out of Lhasa and climb toward Gampala Pass.

From the pass, look down over Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s most important sacred lakes. Its long, narrow arms wind between dry mountain ridges, appearing turquoise, blue or green depending on the sunlight.

Descend from the pass and stop again near the lakeshore. The lower viewpoint brings you closer to the water and the small villages, farmland and grazing animals around it.

The contrast between the bright lake and the bare mountain landscape makes this one of the most memorable sections of the road to Shigatse.

Afternoon: Karola Glacier

Continue to Karola Glacier, which can be viewed without a long hike. Walk through the main viewing area and see the folds of ice and snow rising above the valley.

Continue west across the broad valley to Shigatse and check in at your hotel.

Overnight in Shigatse.

TibetTrip Advice:
Keep your jacket and gloves handy for the high passes.

Day 9: Shigatse to Everest Base Camp via Gyatso La and Gawula Pass

Day 10: Everest Sunrise and Return to Shigatse

Distance: 340 km, 8 hours | Meals: Breakfast | Hotel: Hotel in Shigatse

Wake up early at Everest Base Camp to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Mount Everest (weather permitting). Morning: Tashilhunpo Monastery

Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lamas and one of the largest active monasteries in Tibet.

Walk through broad courtyards surrounded by red and white monastic buildings. Monks move between prayer halls, while pilgrims make offerings and turn prayer wheels along the outer paths.

Inside the Maitreya Hall, see the towering gilded statue of the Future Buddha. Other halls contain murals, Buddhist statues, scriptures and memorial stupas connected with former Panchen Lamas.

The monastery remains an active religious centre rather than a museum, so daily worship continues around the historic buildings.

Afternoon: Return to Lhasa

Leave Shigatse and follow the Yarlung Tsangpo River east toward Lhasa.

The road passes broad farming valleys, dry mountain slopes and villages built along the river. This return route is more direct than the earlier journey through Yamdrok Lake and Gyantse.

Arrive in Lhasa and check in at your hotel. Prepare your luggage for the following day’s train journey.

Overnight in Lhasa.

TibetTrip Advice:
Photography may be restricted inside some monastery halls.
